It has been
said that the more you know about a subject, the more you will
be able to appreciate it. How true it is of nature.
Since I started
looking a little closer at plants, weeds and grasses I've discovered
a whole new world. A world that was always there yet I didn't
know existed. To a great many people this world is lost. It is
my intention to try and preserve it the best way I can and help
others to discover and enjoy this wonderful "Garden of Eden"
that surrounds us.
This week
it's the common Silverweed found in meadows, along sandy
shores, and on streambanks throughout North America. Toothed leaflets
get larger towards the end of the leaf. Usually found early summer
to fall. They are wonderful to work with and retain marvelous
colours. The leaves can have a variety of colours on top with
silky, silvery undersides.
